The power of blog

Sudah lama tidak diurus blog ini dan tiba-tiba jadi kangen lagi untuk menulis. Karena baru sadar betapa hebatnya kita terkoneksi satu dengan lainnya. Ada beberapa orang yang tidak tahu dan tidak yakin bagaimana hebatnya sebuah tulisan dalam blog mencapai orang-orang dibelahan dunia yang lain. Meski memiliki banyak web blog dari wordpress, blogger, multiply, belum lagi tulisan di Facebook dan lain lain tapi sebenarnya aku sendirilah satu diantaranya.

Tulisan-tulisan yang tersebar dimana-mana sebenarnya hanya karena aku kadang-kadang terlalu banyak berpikir dan ingin menyampaikan curahan hati tapi tidak menemukan orang yang tepat untuk membicarakan sebuah ide dan persoalan. Ketika ada waktu dan merekamnya dalam laptop maka jadilah suatu tulisan yang kadang-kadang bukan sebuah cerita yang enak untuk dibaca melainkan lebih seperti unek-unek.

Kenapa blog aku kadang macet tidak ter-urus itu karena aku mengkhususkan blog untuk suatu tema tertentu, seperti blog yang ini khusus untuk windsurfing dan tujuannya memasyarakatkan hobby windsurf karena aku jualan peralatan windsurf. Tapi bayangkan toko windsurf kami yang nyempil di Sanur bisa punya client dari Jakarta sampai ke Timor Leste. Tahukah rahasianya, ya karena tulisan-tulisan yang tersebar didalam blog.

Terakhir kali kami dihubungi seorang shaper kelas dunia yang memproduksi windsurf board terbaik saat ini dan yang terkenal seluruh dunia karena kehebatan board buatannya. Patrick Diethelm, mereka meminta kami untuk menangani windsurfing market di Indonesia. Dari mana lagi mereka bisa menghubungi kami kalau bukan karena internet dan tulisan di web blog. Dan..... I promise myself to up dating blog aku ini.

May 2012 Journal (Latest news from Sanur)

We will missed our windsurfer friends so much. We got friends from around the world, from Japan, German, Netherland, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, even East European including Rusia, which we met in last two summer time. They all come to Bali for windsurfing holiday. We had some windsurfing session together at Ocean Cowboys Windsurf Center.


Here some pictures from 'Ocean Cowboys' at this moment. Zinc-Alu wall all around the windsurf center. No more place for us to hang out here. Ocean Cowboys has to move and we have to move as well, and we don't know where we have to move. I don't know if we could meet our friends again this summer or if our friends could find us. We all from local community now already spreading around.

Ourself already move to Ripcurl School of Surf at the Hotel Sanur Beach. They have enough space, they just do not have professional taste of how to arrange storage for the windsurf equipment, not at all. The only good thing they have is only the shower and the grass field for rigging the sail, which is actually part of the hotel. The rest is only a mesh. I really like to give them some advice like we did to Pedro, our friend the owner of Ocean Cowboys. He is not a really professional windsurfer, his place far smaller than Ripcurl and limited, but Pedro is such an open minded person, he is always ready to listen to more knowledge people. We could changed his place become a nice compact place to store more equipment for more windsurfer.
I am skeptical if Ripcurl School of Surf owned and managed by New Zealander would ready to listen from us specially me, an Indonesian woman. In my opinion they are not kind of person will do so. 


The reason we have to stick around South of Sanur area, because Mertasari beach is the best windsurf spot in Sanur. Serangan East beach would be nice too, but the land belong to Tommy Soeharto's company and no body could touch it. What a shame, unfortunately, Ripcurl School of Surf is the one and only club at the South Sanur at this moment. A mixed club, windsurf, kitesurf, SUP, diving, Catamaran sailing, etc. all kind of watersport.

I think I have to tell the story when I move to Ripcurl, because it's really funny story.
I am really surprise when the manager of Ripcurl Sanur named Luca, complaining when I register that we will store 2 boards, and 3 rigs for me and my husband (3 sails, 3 booms and 3 masts, small size, medium and big one, the medium one I share with my husband). I said, 'c'mon these are our minimum set up like when we are travelling'. So, at this moment I just put one board and two rigs. And the other guy name John explain me, 'please put the rig which you always use down here and the rest which you not use up there in the roof. I was chocked, I only could said to my self, 'if I am not use it I am not bringing it to the club, I will put it in the house somewhere in the garage'. Meine God, please forgive them, they just don't know about windsurfing.


Note : I am still dreaming to move to Sumba Island one day.

Mertasari Project = Kasus Mesuji - Lampung

Kasus-kasus tanah seperti di Perkebunan Sawit Mesuji - Lampung adalah akibat diberikannya hak-hak dan ijin-ijin pengelolaan suatu wilayah oleh pemerintah daerah  kepada kelompok-kelompok usaha tertentu. Kasus yang sama terjadi diseluruh Propinsi di Indonesia, termasuk propinsi Bali. Di Bali terjadi di wilayah-wilayah pesisir pantai. 


Meskipun kasus Mesuji menjadi berita panas di media-media hingga berminggu-minggu lalu tapi hal tersebut tidak menyurutkan untuk menghindari hal-hal serupa terjadi kembali.
Tetap saja penguasa daerah, raja-raja kecil bahkan putra daerah yang terpilih sebagai penguasa dengan cara yang katanya demokratis, menggunakan kekuasaannya bukan untuk kemakmuran pemilihnya melainkan menggunakan kekuasaan yang dia miliki untuk kemakmurannya sendiri dan segelintir orang dekatnya serta pihak-pihak investor yang datang belakangan dan bermodal besar.


Perasaan galau sedang menyelimuti teman kami di pantai Mertasari. Lokasi yang disewanya sebagai tempat usaha persewaan peralatan windsurfing akan segera digusur. Kami juga galau dan resah karena tempatnya juga merupakan tempat kami para hobbiest windsurfing di Bali berkumpul, dan menjadikannya sebagai starting point dan tempat launching jika kami sedang bermain. Lokasin tempat teman kami tersebut adalah lokasi windsurfing terbaik di sepanjang Sanur bahkan di Bali Selatan. 


Kegalauan kami karena jika lokasi tersebut akan dibangun proyek yang dibiayai oleh investor berarti kita masyarakat Bali tidak lagi mempunyai akses ke pantai tersebut. Dan kegalauan orang-orang setempat yang lain yang sudah bertahun-tahun memanfaatkan lokasi tersebut sebagai tempat membuka lapak berjualan souvenir, membuka warung makan, cafe dan tempat persewaan alat penunjang wisata seperti kayak, surfing, windsurfing dan kitesurfing hingga pengasong makanan kecil adalah kemana mereka dapat berusaha setelah ini.


Tanah di lokasi tersebut sebagian adalah tanah negara, dan memang merupakan wewenang pemerintah untuk memanfaatkan tanah-tanah negara untuk kepentingan negara. Lokasi di pantai Mertasari atau yang lebih dikenal wisatawan asing sebagai Kite Beach sudah puluhan tahun diberikan ijinnya kepada sebagian masyarakat untuk melakukan berbagai usaha. Mereka bahkan tidak menempatinya secara gratis, melainkan membayar sejumlah uang retribusi kepada Banjar yang merupakan kepanjangan atau bagian terbawah dari pemerintahan.


Jika melihat pada Undang-Undang yang mengatur masalah Pesisir Pantai, maka orang-orang yang memanfaatkan pesisir pantai pada saat ini mempunyai hak juga, sama halnya dengan para pemegang ijin HP3 atau kepanjangannya Hak Pengelolaan Pesisir Pantai.
Kegalauan kita adalah karena meskipun mempunyai hak-hak yang setingkat tapi kita masyarakat kecil sebagai pemodal kecil selalu kalah dengan pemodal besar. Pertanyaannya adalah kenapa HP3 diberikan ketika wilayah tersebut sudah terbentuk suatu kegiatan ekonomi yang mapan untuk masyarakat.


Sementara masyarakat umum penduduk Bali, yang daerahnya berpantai indah tapi tidak punya akses yang memadai untuk menikmati pantai. Pantai hanya untuk turis. Tapi janganlah para turis merasa senang dan bangga pada kemanjaan yang diberikan, jangan heran kalau kemudian turis menjadi sapi perah dan obyek komersil. Siapa bilang Bali itu Paradise... Bali itu Neraka untuk penduduknya.

Just look again pictures which I made from our trip last year to Lombok and I found the one I made on ferry boat. Picture of our poor heavy loaded rent car.

 

Compare to other waterman activity, for example diver, surfer or kitesurfer, windsurfer has more bulky equipment to carry around. Dive activity develop very well in Indonesia, we could find dive center even in very remote area,so the divers do not need to bring they own equipment. But not for island hopers surfers, windsurfers and kiters. Travelling around in most places in Indonesia to find different spots they have to carry their own for most of the time.

For us it is not so easy when we like to travel with our windsurf stuff, we are two, me and my husband are windsurfer, and my husband always insist to carry two set of equipment, one set for himself and another set for me. One set means, a board with minimum two rigs. Can you imagine, how bulky it will two board, 4 sails, minimum 3 masts and 3 booms.

Once we travel from Bali to Lombok by plane, and at the check in desk the flight refuse to carry our equipment. Fortunately, I book the ticket by travel agent, so I have somebody to blame. Oh yes, they deserve to be blamed, we announce before that we have big bag of windsurf equipment travel with us include the size, the length, the width, the thickness. After make drama, by shouting, crying, begging, finally we manage to bring it with different flight.

We learnt too, on our second trip to Lombok with equipment we used car and crossing to Lombok Island with ferry boat. Still, we have to learn, we should used a four wheel drive car to drive along south coast of Lombok. Next time we will arrange our trip better.

A month a go finally we got our delivery from China... They call it 'Bamboo Stick'...
Since long time China leading in Bamboo things, from tooth pick, chop stick up to building material, now they develop mast use bamboo too.
We find here in Bali people make custom board with bamboo veneer so we are planning to make our own custom board with bamboo. When we found an over of Bamboo mast in our email box from Chinese company, we didn't think twice, and we ordered it immediately. It would really great to have bamboo board and then sail with bamboo mast, isn't it?.
The one in the picture is mast size 490 cm. It is a composite material with carbon. Only the half down part use bamboo laminate and the half top part still use carbon.
I have to wait my husband back from Tripoli to tell how the performance of this bamboo stick, because his the one which will use it. 490 mast is too big for me. My biggest sail until now is 7.1 and this don't need such a big mast.
